Math Placement and
Proficiency Test Dates
When you take the test, please bring your picture I.D., along with two #2 pencils to the test. Calculators are not allowed.

For Intermediate Algebra (0005), a Math Placement score of 12 is needed. If you have a 22 or higher on the ACT math sub-score, or have earned at least a "C" in Intermediate Algebra at a 2-year or 4-year college, you would not need to take the UMSL Math Placement test to take an introductory math course, such as, Contemporary Math (1020) or College Algebra (1030). A Math Placement Exam Prep course will be available January 11-15, 2010, from 11:30am-1:00pm. This a non-credit course and the fee is $90. For more details and Registration procedures, please check the Math Placement Exam Prep link.
This course is a refresher of the prerequisite material for students who need to take college algebra but need to review in order to place in the course and also to be more prepared for the course. The students take a test on the last day of class. This test is equivalent to the placement exam and the students will be placed in the appropriate course based of their score.
All visitors to the UM-St. Louis campus should go to the Parking and Transportation Office and obtain a $1.00 one-day guest parking pass. Please see the Parking and Transportation Office web site for further details.
